The North Belfast Partnership delivers urban regeneration throughout north Belfast and works with people to promote social inclusion and economic growth by addressing the causes of deprivation and life inequalities experienced by some local people.
They are using the Big Lottery Fund 10th Birthday grant of £10,000 to offer ‘Men’s Shed type activities’ such as wood carving, copper work and mosaic work to engage with local schools, other men’s groups and people living in residential homes. The additional Shed activities will include free men’s health checks and health and well-being sessions.
The project is establishing other community services to help local people and groups with practical projects such as repairing old furniture, making bird boxes and bird tables.
