Do Something Brilliant is Community Channel’s flagship campaign, funded by Big Lottery Fund, that encourages people to do the Little Brilliant Things that make a big difference to their communities.
Since its launch in 2014, Do Something Brilliant has resourced over two thousand charities to support their work and campaigns. It has reached over 30 million people across the UK through Community Channel and its media partners across TV, press, digital and social.
Last year 400,000 people in Northern Ireland watched Community Channel – that’s one in five of all TV viewers.
We’re partnering with The Mirror and Belfast Live to run the first Brilliant Street competition to inspire people across Northern Ireland to find out more about their street, think differently and celebrate the best in local neighbourhoods coming together.
We recognise it’s important to celebrate the people whose energy, enthusiasm and neighbourliness help make our streets great places to live. It is these quietly extraordinary people who change our communities and society for the better.
To enter, people will simply tell us why their street and neighbours stand out among all others. Whether they get together for old-fashioned fun, help out each other’s families, celebrate their street’s history or have a unique story, entrants will have the option of including photographs or film clips to bring their nominations to life.
The winning street will be awarded £500 to go towards a street party or improvements such as new plants and flowerbeds – and the winning street will be profiled in Belfast Live, The Mirror Northern Ireland and on Community Channel’s Do Something Brilliant TV series.
The Brilliant Street competition is open to Northern Ireland residents aged 18, It closes on 31st August 2015 and the winner will be announced on 21st September 2015. If you’d like to enter please visit the website here! www.dosomethingbrilliant.co.uk/brilliantstreet
We hope Brilliant Street will be a great way to celebrate these amazing people and unique local stories – and be the spur for doing lots of brilliant things in your community!
